Abstract: With the introduction of digital signatures, the signing of electronic documents provides thesame legal evidence as a hand-written signature. This opens up new possibilities for makingthe trading processes in e-business more efficient. The aim of this paper is to explore newpossibilities for contract management with the help of the emerging technology of electroniccontracts. We analyse which decisions must be taken during contract negotiation and howdecision-making might be facilitated. The adoption of XML as the format for electroniccontracts is discussed and opportunities for decision support in the negotiation process areevaluated.
